Please note that on Wednesday, October 29, weather pending, we will conduct an evacuation-on-foot drill with all Dassa McKinney Elementary School faculty, staff, and students. An evacuation-on-foot is one of several emergency response strategies that may be implemented in the event of a school intruder situation, and is represented by Run (for Evacuate) in the Run/Hide/Fight Active Shooter Response Training. In an evacuation-on-foot drill, participants leave the school as quickly as possible, and take various routes to a predetermined “rally point”, safely away from the school building. The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires all schools to conduct at least two intruder drills annually. We invite you to read more about this drill in our evacuation drill family letter.
