We believe a student’s life success is dependent upon more than just their grades. We believe to become truly “educated,” students must recognize and develop their intellect, their talents, and their aspirations. Not only do we offer art, music, band, physical education, STEM, and library education, but we also advocate for developing the whole person through various programs and activities available throughout our community. Pennsylvania Positive Behavior Support - 2023-2024 PaPBS Network Tiers 1-2-3 SiteOn behalf of the Pennsylvania Positive Behavior Support (PaPBS) Network, we are pleased to inform you that Dassa McKinney Elementary School met criteria for implementing School-Wide (SWPBIS) Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports with fidelity during the 2023–2024 school year!

Dassa McKinney Elementary School received recognition for Tiers 1-2-3 Sustaining at the 2024 Innovate and Integrate: MTSS & PBIS Advanced Implementation Forum held November 13 to November 15, 2024, at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, PA.

Starfish Program

This program involves a commitment we as faculty and students make at Dassa McKinney to seek out individuals to lift and encourage through small, intentional actions. We accept others differences, and we commit to take responsibility for our actions. Discover more about this program by reading the starfish story and pledge.

Student Council

Some of our ongoing activities with student council include Box Tops for Education, weekly peer tutoring and service learning projects, like cards and care packages for veterans and others, book collections and exchanges, special assemblies, and fundraisers to benefit the school community.
